Haim. Your argument is true if all NASDAQs are one big company. NASDAQ is market cap weighted and the rise in index reflects the largest cap companies who have indeed delivered spectacular growth in earnings, much faster than 12%. I don't know about all the stocks, but just all the ones that I followed has grown anywhere from 50% to 150%.

The market index is self-adjusting itself to the fastest growing sectors/companies. Just imagine where DOW is gonna be if it kept all the original 30 stocks!

I agree the market may not be much undervalued, but definitely not overvalued by that much as you suggested.
