RDOC...agree, Rande, it's worth a "fish" again. "Up from zero"---that's a pretty good PERCENTAGE gain!

AETH...down to trendline now. It either bounces up from here or continues down to 100-120, imo.

Regards, Mark

724 Solutions and CheckFree to collaborate on wireless bill presentment and bill payment offering
Combined technologies will be available to financial institutions in Fall 2000
TORONTO, and ATLANTA, GA, July 11 /CNW/ - Receiving and paying monthly bills just got easier and more accessible, thanks to an agreement announced today between Internet infrastructure software developer 724 Solutions Inc. and CheckFree (NASDAQ: CKFR - news) to make electronic billing and payment available quickly to financial institutions' customers that use both CheckFree and the 724 Solutions Financial Services Platform (FSP). These financial institutions will soon be able to enable their customers to receive and pay bills -- such as telephone, utility, home loan, cable, credit card and insurance bills -- on various wireless Internet-enabled devices including mobile phones and personal digital assistants.
The development and co-marketing agreement marries the strengths of CheckFree's market and technology leadership in electronic billing and payment (EBP) with 724 Solutions' pioneering wireless financial services offering. Together CheckFree and 724 Solutions will enable financial institutions to embrace a service that adds value to billers, businesses and consumers. Currently, financial institutions that are offering, or planning to offer, 724 Solutions' wireless solution have a worldwide customer base of approximately 166 million customer relationships. Today, CheckFree offers electronic billing and payment services from more than 150 web sites, including banks, brokerage firms, credit unions and portals.

Wireless EBP is expected to be available for delivery to CheckFree and 724 Solutions customers in the third quarter of calendar 2000. The EBP-enabled solution can be hosted by 724 Solutions or by the financial institution themselves.

"The ability for financial institutions to offer electronic bill presentment and payment services to their customers is a huge value-add, and even more so when they can do it anytime, anywhere via the wireless device of their choosing," said Greg Wolfond, chief executive officer, 724 Solutions. "Working with CheckFree -- the worldwide leader in EBP -- we can now rapidly roll out a more powerful version of our Financial Services Platform to hundreds of financial institutions."

The alliance between CheckFree and 724 Solutions is aimed at tapping into the convergence of wireless applications and online financial services solutions.

By 2004, 70 percent of new cell phones and 40 percent of new PDAs will use wireless technology for direct access to Web content and enterprise networks, according to a February 2000 Gartner Group report.

Meanwhile, by 2004, 21 million households (or 33 per cent of all wired households) will be paying their bills electronically, while 2 billion consumer bills, which represents 13 per cent of all U.S. bills, will be presented and paid electronically, according to a September 1999 Forrester Research report.

By 2002, more than half of U.S. households will have the ability to access three or four bills on line for viewing and payment on line, according to a 1999 Internet Research Group report.

"CheckFree's electronic billing and payment platform was developed with the understanding that wireless integration would open new worlds of convenience," said Pete Kight, chief executive officer, CheckFree. "With 724 Solutions, CheckFree will deliver a powerful value-added proposition for financial institutions to offer consumers, businesses and billers a convenient alternative to paper bills and payments with access from a variety of mobile devices."
