It all comes down to costs - reinstalling can be made quite cheap with drive imaging, whereas troubleshooting a Windows with a blue screen can be quite costly. I have seen many examples, where more than $500 in consultant fees are used to troubleshoot a PC with Windows, Office and an adminstration program or two. Reinstalling this stuff costs $50, depending on how you measure it and do it.
