It would be a wonderful thing if no war was ever necessary, wouldn't it? As Hemingway said, "wouldn't it be pretty to think so?" When I pay my taxes, I like to think that the money is going to the NIH, to fund cancer research, or to NASA, to fund space exploration, or to DOT, because I love to drive, but funding the Blue Angels and the Marine Band isn't such a bad thing. We are planning to drive to visit Fort Ticonderoga, in New York, this summer, and I hope to visit Chincoteague and Grayton Beach, too. Your tax dollars at work.
