An assumption or belief not being substantiated by hard evidence does not make it a sham. Anyone asserting that God does not exist is also supporting a belief without evidence. If one is irrational so is the other. By your definition of rational only agnostics are rational on this issue. Tim Edit / PS - I meant to make this a private message but obviously did not.
