They simply settled. This settlement could mean Rambus execs went to Hitachi and said: "Look. If you issue a press release saying you agree to settle, we'll give you 10 million warrants of Rambus stock. When you announce you've settled with us, your warrants will go sky high and so will my executive options." Which, by the way, seems to be what happened.
