British Ambassador Appreciated Breakthrough Achieved In Sudanese-British Relations

Khartoum, July 14 (SUNA)- The British ambassador to Sudan, Richard Makepeace, hoped that postponement of considering the issue of lifting the sanctions imposed on Sudan by the Security Council till next November will lead to a good solution to the problem.

In an interview to SUNA on Thursday, the British ambassador said that his country believes in the importance of realizing positive development in Sudan relations with the international community.

He expressed view that many developments had been achieved concerning the dialogue between Sudan and the international community, especially the Sudanese - European dialogue and the progress achieved in the relations between Sudan and each of Britain and the United States.

Makepeace indicated that all these developments are good for Sudan dealing with the international community.

On the future of the relations between Sudan and Britain in the light of the current international developments and the historic ties between the two countries, the ambassador said that he believes in existence of historic ties between the two countries, adding that the past period witnessed misunderstanding at the political level between them and absence of dialogue between the two countries.

He explained that it is important for the diplomacy and the embassies in the two countries, especially, to encourage the cooperation between the two countries.
