Absolutely Neo! Most people don't leave the military for pay. For that matter, most people don't leave any job for pay alone. Most people leave a job because of other factors such as lack of empowerment, not having their achievement needs met, or not sharing the organizational values. Pay is a factor, but other factors should be on a higher plain of awareness by those in positions of leadership.

Admiral Konetzni is a real maverick in the service. He has connected with the troops in important measurable ways. His connection is real. And I've heard his battles with the power centers of D.C. are taking a personal toll on him as he nears retirement.

When George W takes the helm he needs to tap into real leaders like Adm Konetzni in order to turn our military around. The lack of manning is nearing crisis levels, and too many people are putting their head in the sand instead of addressing the real reasons why.
