Really out of cash...

Corel to be AWOL at MacWorld due to cash problems
By Brent Hecht, Insanely Great Mac
July 12, 2000

The top brass at struggling software maker Corel has decided to cancel the company’s
MacWorld Expo 2000 New York plans in order to save what little cash the company has
available.

Because Corel has been actively expanding its Mac offerings, its absence at the conference
will be a significant loss for attendees. The company will, however, exhibit at other
upcoming events that are more focused on its core businesses.

"Our decision to not exhibit at Expo was part of our cost restructuring measures," said Corel
spokeswoman Meredith Dundas. "We are simply looking at the bottom line and trying to
save some money by focusing on events we feel at this time are better suited for certain
products we are highlighting."

Corel’s Mac products include CorelDRAW, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, Corel Print House, and
several applications that were purchased from Metacreations earlier this year.
