Reports Send VoiceStream Up in Pre-Trade

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of VoiceStream Wireless Corp.
(NasdaqNM:VSTR - news) rose in pre-opening trade after reports late
Monday that Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE) had made an offer to buy the
U.S. mobile phone company.

Shares of the U.S. mobile phone company were up at 139-1/4 on the Instinet
electronic broker system from a Monday close of 124-15/16.

Yahoo Inc. (NasdaqNM:YHOO - news) shares dipped in pre-opening
trade, down at 109-3/4 on Instinet from a Monday close of 110 ahead of its
earnings report expected after the close of Tuesday trading.

It is expected to post earnings of 10 cents a share for the second quarter,
according to analysts surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial, but analysts
have said they expect the Internet company to have a more challenging time
in the coming quarters.

Nextel Communications (NasdaqNM:NXTL - news) shares were trading higher on Instinet at 66-5/8, up from
Monday's close of 64-1/8 as investors bet on the company to become a possible takeover target in the wake
of consolidation in the industry and the action of the U.S. Justice Department and European regulators, which
moved last month to block of the WorldCom Inc. (NasdaqNM:WCOM - news) and Sprint Corp.
(NYSE:FON - news) $120 billion merger.

Shares of Pinnacle Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:PCLE - news) fell in pre-opening trade on Instinet to 18-1/2
from Monday's close of 22-5/8 following the desktop computer video editing equipment maker's fourth-quarter
earnings warning.

Shares of Aspect Communications Corp. (NasdaqNM:ASPT - news) tumbled in pre-open trade. It was last
down at 22 on Instinet after Monday's close of 43-7/8. The software provider said late Monday it expected a
fiscal second-quarter earnings shortfall due to lower business levels and delays in government contracts.
