Brian, here's the San Jose Mercury News article off the trade show in San Jose and San Francisco. Please forgive author THERESE POLETTI's gaffe (or the editor's): ....300mm silicon wafers.
Those wafers should allow chip makers like Intel Corp. to produce 2 1/2 more chips for each wafer, dramatically cutting costs and boosting profits. Spearheading the launch, Applied Materials Inc. unveiled Monday 21 new machines that will cover three-fourths of the production process for the larger wafers, its largest product introduction so far.
