Size of the wireless data market - in 1999 wireless moved 2% of the total data traffic.MCI Worldcom Vice Chairman John Sidgmore says that about 45% of wireless traffic will be data by 2003. Says "wireless is the next great growth platform" My comment - If it grows anywhere close to that figure it's going to catch companies like NOK flat footed with a WCDMA technology that isn't ready, isn't in place, and has huge patent violation issues hanging over it. Data traffic of 2% can be ignored but not 45%.
Meanwhile Mr. Market doesn't believe in QCOM's future, and the stock price continues to sink with no end in sight. Somebody is going to be very wrong in this equation.
