Toko -

Thanks for the information on drive peripherals.

How about technology? Are the major head manufacturers all about even in areal density or are some lagging with time to market?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Mark

Not that I'm aware of. Very nice survey of the independent heads/media landscape. Muy agradecido.

One must wonder what has replaced IBM's once feared "component strategy". The internal bleeding there must be as bad, if not so visible.

My prediction is marginally better days ahead as 15-20GB single platter disk becomes the desktop norm. But its still an open question whether RDRT and KMAG can survive that long.

Also...one must contemplate the effect of taking Seagate private in the peculiar manner chosen. If and when the dust settles on that I would be surprised if their new balance sheet didn't reflect substantial internal capacity write offs thereby freeing them to be even more price competitive and adding yet more fuel to Sam's fury :o)

Thanks for the survey.
Best Regards.......Tom
