Irrelevant, part 3:

That's right, if you buy at 40 vs. 50, you get 10$ more per share at the end. That may not seem like much, when the selling price is in the hundreds. But you are forgetting that you can buy 5 shares at 40$, for every 4 shares at 50$. So, with a lot more shares, the 40$/share investor does a lot better (assuming they both have the same amount to start with) than your calculation suggests.
