Be sure to wear hats. My dad used to take us deep sea fishing, and the only advice I can give you is wear a hat. Otherwise, your scalp will sunburn and peel. Oh, yeah, also wear very good sunglasses, and sunscreen, and make sure there are plenty of fluids available. If you get sea-sick, try to focus on the horizon. Go ahead and barf, you'll feel better afterwards.

With respect to the fish, you will catch fish. Then what? There are basically two kinds, eating fish, and trophy fish.

Trophy fish, should you be lucky enough to catch one, are no problem, have your photo taken with it, then pay to have it sent to the taxidermist. Caveat - displaying a marlin or a swordfish requires a very large wall. They take up a lot of space, and make decorating challenging.

The eating fish - which you WILL catch - are quite large. Have them filleted. I hope you like to eat fish. Otherwise, there's really no point to the exercise. Oily fish are better in a spicy courtbouillion over rice. Firm fish do well poached, broiled, or baked, and a crabmeat garnish is very nice.

Men, of course, have different sensibilities. JK just called me from Alaska, and mentioned that a grizzly bear has been circling his camp all week. He is building a cabin, and says when it's done, we should all come up and stay there. I asked him, what about the grizzly? He said, we'll eat him.
