Blake,

1. A couple of months ago, some Athlon/DDR benchmarks were released (with Micron chipset) and they weren't much different than the PC133 benchmarks.

2. I've been making the same derogatory remarks about high bandwidth memory for over two years now on SI.

3. It doesn't take a "disinformation specialist" to see that 815 benchmarks better than 820. All it requires is someone with an open mind.

Re: INTC didn't pay heed to the exisitence of disinformation specialists and posted 2 sets of numbers without worrying that they would be exploited as THE condemning evidence against the bus.

I can't believe how you guys continue to put a positive spin on any news, no matter how negative it is.

Look at it from the Intel perspective. They've been taking a lot of heat for their continued support of Rambus. The LAST thing they would want to do would be to show that DRDRAM offers no performance benefits. The choice to post those benchmarks was very intentional, it had to be. While you guys continue to put a positive spin on things, all I see is Intel posturing to get their warrants while at the same time cutting away from Rambus. The happy marriage is over. The divorce will happen once Intel gets the warrants. Although, part of me wonders why Intel is going through all the fuss to get the warrants, it's not worth the pain Rambus is causing them, but many of Intel's recent moves haven't made much sense.

Blake,

We'll see what the numbers look like when the P4 systems are released.

It is nice having high bandwidth memory, and a high bandwidth bus. Unfortunately though, the CPU will not take advantage of this for most applications.
