WJH, 100% correct...your little baseball analogy hits the nail on the head. it's the same with Japan's zero interest rate policy - it hasn't worked up until now, but still everybody insists it should continue. complete bunk...all it does is help support the bubble in US financial markets.

you're quite right, there is no inflation. only rising prices. :)

There is a front page article in the Orange County (CA) Register that says y/y the median house price here rose 13.8% to an all time high of $241,000.

My property tax valuation was recently raised 6.727%, but we don't have any inflation here, as Heinz says, just rising prices.
