In the ESIO conference call last night, it appeared that the ESIO, like other equipment makers, is outsourcing to a much greater degree than had been the case in prior cycles.

This is allowing them to ramp up capacity much more quickly and with much lower capital expenditures. I don't know where LRCX stands with respect to outsourcing, but it's conceivable that they've been focused on other aspects of getting "the house in order" and haven't yet achieved the required degree of manufacturing flexibility. Just a WAG, but I doubt that the Bagley comment is applicable to the whole sector.
