marc u: re: < Sentiment Relevance >

Are sentiment stats always or sometimes relevant ? If sometimes relevant, when (ie. only at major market turns, also at turns that are counter-trend rallies) ?

If we accept that the inflection point for the markets occurred last January when Bob made his asset allocation change call, it occurs to me that sentiment stats will not be relevant again until we are near the bottom of the bear market looking for the next inflection point.

However, one could argue that, except for the NAZ, the other averages are still in a topping process that started Spring 1999. If the bear market is yet to start for the other averages (except NAZ), then I could see a continuing relevance of the sentiment stats.

Thoughts on the above ideas would be appreciated.
