Anon,

Although I hate to admit it, your analysis has the ring of accuracy to it.

CEO CAN make a difference. I agree with you that it is VERY difficult for one man to set the pace, & the culture of a company.

But Roth and Chambers both exhibit many qualities of good leadership which in turn fosters confidence among the troops.

It takes an exceptional man to set high standards and get his troops to follow. It takes even more for a single man to TURN AROUND a rotten corporation (so in that sense, McGinn shouldn't be overly criticized i suppose since he likely inherited lot of the problems he has today).

As far as micro-managing, you are right that one CEO cannot fix everything but you have to understand that the top mgmt sets the pace and create a culture where a rotten apple typically CANNOT survive due to peer pressure. In a well run company such as MSFT, INTC, DELL, etc. the bad seeds usually get weeded out by other employees -- very subtle process but one that is definitely there even in large companies.

We will see.........I am not sure that McGinn did anything really wrong but it is what he hasn't DONE that I am critical of. This is after all the Net age and there are huge changes going on which affects even large behemoths like LU. LU has so much resource, history, connections and my point is that McGuinn appears to be just in over his head. LU really should be TROUNCING NT, CSCO, ALA, etc. based on their resource. Instead they are getting trounced and losing good people left & right.

At some point, the top guy has to do the honourable thing and resign!

Gee! I'm surprised that not one "regular" hasn't entered the room to say something about the way things have gone with the price of the stock in the last two days. Here it is lurking at 62 3/16, up 2 15/16 from yesterday.

Anybody hear what the "whispers" are all about. Since Monday is the big day, will the small run-up from last Tuesday's 54 5/8 disappear in a "sell on the news" on Monday if things are good or will we get another small "pop" to start off next week?

Should I get out today? Should I hold on to half and take something off the table. I bought in at 58 3/4 months ago and watched the run-up at the beginning of March vanish into thin air.

This place lycos.whispernumber.com has the Consensus # as $0.29 and the Whisper as $0.31. Will that be enough to convince the STREET to stick with LUCY or to sell into the news on Monday? I guess it all depends on what they dig out of the report and any conference calls.

I'm playing with most of my holdings within my 401K so I can move in and out without a taxable consequence at the moment. Got to run an errand so I'll be back later to read the pearls of wisdom....ANON

"The best run companies where people are the happiest are usually small in nature, without many levels of management, where all employees usually have access to what is going on, and also a management that is highly visible to everyone in the organization......ANON"

Any candidates for this criteria?
