Steve, yes, I know that you were just pointing it out. I didn't mean to imply that you had a position on the matter, one way or the other. I've got to rush off to the copper and silica mines right now, I'll reply to your other points later. FAC

"Wireless does look very interesting (and out of favor with the street at this point)..."

Stephen- Hmmm, "out of favor," my favorite investment words. So I'm just wondering what you meant by the above? I thought mobile wireless access was a current Wall Street rage. Maybe you are referring to the service providers(SPs)? I don't follow them, so don't know. Thanks. -MikeM(From Florida)

Stephen,

What you are describing resembles the kind of riser system found at the Cypress Communications web site. All you need do is add a few more feeds for the IR and other modes.

cypresscom.net

While I'm not sure if the UTRO/carrier cited above is looking at multi-homing, or load sharing, the prospect of using IR in the latter mode for diversity and redundancy is a likely scenario, I'd think. That is, having at least two connections to the net up and working at all times for improved availability and overflow purposes. Perhaps priority could be set so that a T1 is used under normal circumstances, with fallback to the lower dependability IR facility (now, that's an oxymoronic statement, isn' it?) being invoked automatically upon the T1 failing.
