Cisco Systems-Plotting a Route to Networking Success, The Internet Analyst News
Wed Jul 12 15:07:00 EDT 2000

NEW YORK, Jul 12, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Recently Cisco Systems (Nasdaq:CSCO) reported one of its best quarter ever. Revenue grew 13.1% quarter-to-quarter and
56% year-to-year. . . Cisco's gross margin of 65% and net margin of 21% are significantly better than each of its three largest competitors in terms of size
-- Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT), Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) and 3COM (Nasdaq:COMS) -- and unlike those companies, its balance sheet doesn't carry any debt.

CISCO has a horizontal business model, whereas Lucent and Nortel embrace a more vertical one. . . Investors should note that Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) and Intel
Nasdaq:INTC) have also adopted horizontal business strategies.

Although Cisco faces some strong competition from Lucent and Nortel, it has said publicly that it is more worried about start-ups -- Juniper, Redback Networks (Nasdaq:RBAK) and Sycamore Networks (Nasdaq:SCMR), for instance.

Nope - I'd say that works for me :)

BRCM, CMRC, SDLI, NTAP, even QCOM were all good to me today. With all that I could handle the little profit taking in NUFO.
