Just got back from Telematics booth.
The release plan is mix of GPS, cellular, text to
voice, voice recognition, close proximity wireless and
MP3. Start w/ Sprint Motorola in 2001 w/ voice
recognition and follow up with embedded system
allowing PDA and notebook access to internet 2002/3.
The MP3 and close proximity wireless (in-vehicle
positional commerce)is right up QCOM alley - Q-Tunes
and Snaptrak.

The JV partner(s) will be annouced end of this month.

I also stopped by ATT, Ericcson (same booth as ATT)
and Vodafone. They did not have the right people there
but they thought that they were working on something
with Telematics. Vodafones is ok but ATT troubles me.
I went back to Telematics to confirm deal w/ Sprint.
He said that was for initial phase, remainder is up in
the air.

Telematics had the guts of the system on display with
the chips taped up. If you know what Q chipset looks
like you can figure out which technology they will use
-- CDMA or GSM/TDMA.

I assume all these are public info, no inside info are
being disclosed. If you are really antsy and willing
to bug the reps, you may want to attend tomorrow. I
think I'm allowed to escort you in. Adding 2+2, I get
4.5 -- that is Q is involved, but Nok and others may
also be involved. Remember, we have to support Europe
as well. The more I think about it, the more it makes
sense for Q merger w/ Nok or Ericson
.

You can post this on Q board. I think your post will
get more vis.

What do you think about merger feasibility? How would
Europe be deployed?

From a GOOD friend........ <<<
