"We want the world to know that even though QUALCOMM claims that CDMA2000 is more cost effective and will be available for commercial deployment at least 2 years earlier, we continue to, um strongly suggest, to any underpaid government representatives that their country should support implementation of W-CDMA only." "First of all," says Sven Sven, "supporting W-CDMA is a blow to that greedy money grubbing QUALCOMM who gets most of the royalties for CDMA2000." The royalty rate has not been confirmed to be higher for W-CDMA, but at least it is spread among more parties so no one company gets nearly as high a percentage of the royalty dollars as QUALCOMM will get for CDMA2000. Sven is widely known for his anti QUALCOMM comments, but the rumors that he may actually be an analyst have not been confirmed. W-CDMA was developed by rivals of QUALCOMM and is a competing technology to their own CDMA2000. Tokyo Yokohama, a W-CDMA supporter in Japan stated, "QUALCOMM claims to hold patents that cover W-CDMA, but we don't know the real answer. Even though QUALCOMM has been victorious in nearly every patent review case that has been brought before the patent review board and/or the courts, we will continue to pursue these claims until we find an official who is willing to rule in our favor. If anything, we can continue to make life difficult for QUALCOMM and their investors." A W-CDMA supporter in New York made the following comments when asked about the performance of W-CDMA. "The rumors that W-CDMA is only vaporware are widely overstated and vastly under-reported. Sure it's never been deployed, but we have some nifty computer simulations that prove it will offer up to a 12% improvement over GSM and TDMA networks." Shanghai Surprise, a wireless expert in China said, "While it has been reported that the Chinese Governemnt has suspended deployment of CDMA, we have not been able to confirm that the proper officials have been notified of whether this is indeed invalid. But the fact that W-CDMA may be the European standard is very relevant to China so that our nearly 2 billion citizens have the ability to use their phones and wireless devices during their annual vacations to the French Riveria and Monte Carlo." And in response to question regarding the cost efficiency of a CDMA2000 network versus a W-CDMA network, Kung Pao stated that "Many Chinese people cannot afford a mobile phone, but there are so many of them that we plan to make up for that with increased volumes." Even though this story is vague, inaccurate, and contradictory at times, we fully expect that it will be a blow to QUALCOMM once the market hears the full story. We have arranged to have a nationwide financial network report on this story and the negative impact on QUALCOMM's stock every 6 minutes for the next 2 weeks. Some followers of QUALCOMM's stock are expected to drop their recommendations from 'sell' to 'short the living crap out of it'. One notable anti QUALCOMM figure is rumored to have stated, "Sure it hasn't been proven that I know anything, but it hasn't been proven that I don't and that alone is enough for me to lower my price target on QUALCOMM from $50 to 'a buck twenty-five'. Additionally I've raised my earnings estimates for FY2001 to $3.75. Sure this drops the PE to .33, but hey QUALCOMM hasn't proven it deserves a PE higher than that."
