Strictly speaking a warning should be "better recieved" than the surprise (ie when did the company know and why didn't they disclose earlier.....implies they were surprised, which is bad in itself or they aren't forthright).
Either way the surprise implies a deeper ill (ignorance or non-disclosure).
Interestingly I find most small caps sell off big time on the "warning" due to liquidity and panic selling. However when the warning or issue isn't a structural problem they can present unique buying opps (eg recent sell of in game stocks...elbo, thdo that have rebounded nicely, >50%)
