QCOM DO care what flavor of CDMA is used.
CDMA2000 would be the best for QCOM, as they control the standard and have ASIC's ready to roll.

CDMA2000 isn't going to happen, as the world appears to be rolling towards DS-WCDMA.

QCOM will do OK with DS-WCDMA, but not as well as they (or their investors) would like because:
1. DS-WCDMA roll out will be quite late, which will dilute their IPR revenue earning potential.
2. IPR will be additionally diluted by having to share the pool with other players,
3. They will face much stiffer competition in the ASIC area.
