John Fowler. Re: "In regards to your discussion on Intel valuation, a few things I think the street is recognizing: " Thanx for your list of things the street is recognizing about Intel.

I did a recent analysis of the Dow 30 and noted the average stock is selling at 1.5 times its growth rate, with higher numbers for such stocks as Intel (3.2), GE (2.6), Disney (4.5), KO (5.8), and HP (2.7). So Intel does not even carry the highest valuation in the DOW 30.

And in this AM's WSJ, two Harvard B School professors just published a study of global market share based on 40 years of data in 20 industries and found that ALL global multinationals had a declining market share concentration as smaller more agile competitors stole share. The only exception to this finding was the semiconductor industry. In my opinion this is due to economies of scale and Intel's success at innovating.

So the "moat" around our company looks pretty wide and deep. And when the street recognizes that, which they seem to, it can move Intel up to a higher valuation...for awhile anyway.
