One other point on the practicality of both approaches. An income tax, including a flat one, requires that businesses and employees file tax returns with the IRS. A NST eliminates all of that paperwork on both ends and obviates the need for 95% of the IRS.

Now THAT'S practical!

The "evil" of the income tax is the fact that the government owns a lien on anything you earn. Legally, a person can't shovel a neighbor's walk or babysit their kids without owing a piece to the government.

Under a NST, you are free to earn any amount you wish and keep it.
