7/13/00 - DellHost Adds Windows 2000 to Dedicated Server Offerings; Announces Lower Prices for Entry-Level Dedicated and Shared Hosting Offerings, Affiliate Referral Program for Small Businesses
ROUND ROCK, Texas, Jul 13, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Dell, a world leader in Internet commerce and infrastructure technology, today announced a number of initiatives and programs for DellHost(tm) customers that can make it easier and more affordable to develop their presence on the Internet, including the addition of Windows(R) 2000 Server to its dedicated Dell PowerEdge(tm) server offerings. Also included in today's announcement:
-- DellHost's lowest-priced shared hosting service, starting at $14.95 per month with e-mail-only support (telephone support available for an additional $3 per month);
-- DellHost has lowered the price for its D-2950 dedicated host services, which includes Dell PowerApp.web(tm) appliance servers with Red Hat Linux 6.2, to $199(a) per month. DellHost also is waiving the set-up fee for the remainder of July for customers who purchase its high-end, dedicated Dell PowerEdge(tm) hosting options;
-- The DellHost Affiliate Program, in which small businesses can earn money for referring other small businesses to DellHost.

At the end of Dell's first quarter in April, more than 2,000 small- and medium-sized businesses had chosen DellHost (www.dellhost.com) to reach their customers via the Web. In addition, 40 percent of DellHost customers are new to Dell and 60 percent have chosen Microsoft operating systems as their platform of choice.
Windows 2000 Server on Dedicated DellHost PowerEdge Servers
Dell is one of the first major hosting vendors to make available Microsoft Windows 2000 Server operating system as an option on the full range of Web hosting offerings. Customers can now order dedicated PowerEdge servers with Windows 2000 Server, Windows NT(R) Server 4.0 or Red Hat Linux 6.2. Windows 2000 Server has been an option for shared hosting offerings and all PowerApp.web appliance dedicated offerings since April.
Lower Price for Dedicated and Shared Hosting
DellHost has reduced the price of its dedicated D-2950 PowerApp.web appliance server hosting offering by 20 percent to $199 per month, plus a $350 set-up fee. The offer includes the PowerApp.web server with Intel(R) Pentium(R) III 600 MHz, 64 MB SDRAM, 9 GB SCSI storage, 21 GB data transfer rate per month and Red Hat Linux 6.2.
Through the end of July, DellHost is also waiving the set-up fees for its high-end PowerEdge D-3400 and D-3500 dedicated hosting offerings, a $500 value.
DellHost is also offering its lowest-priced, shared hosting package, for $14.95 per month plus a $20 setup fee. Customers will receive shared hosting accommodations, including 3 gigabytes of monthly data transfer, 50 megabytes of storage, five e-mail accounts and e-mail-only technical support (phone support available for an additional $3 per month fee).
DellHost Affiliate Program
DellHost is also expanding its customer outreach by introducing the DellHost Affiliate Program, in which small businesses can earn referral fees up to $170 per each qualified shared e-commerce sale. Beginning next week, customers can sign up for the program on www.dellhost.com.
Earlier this month, DellHost made available via www.dellhost.com NetObjects Fusion 5.0 -- Dell Edition at no additional charge for DellHost customers. NetObjects Fusion 5.0 -- Dell Edition is integrated into DellHost Web hosting to provide Dell's customers a seamless experience when building their sophisticated Internet presence. The NetObjects Fusion 5.0 -- Dell Edition also has an Online View that offers services to help establish, promote and manage an online business. DellHost previously announced a similar offering of Trellix Corp.'s Trellix Web software for easy Web site development.
