It was pretty obvious the problem was the power supply. Not positive the satellite connection not being properly grounded was the root of the power supply ills. The other components of the machine seem to be working fine so I have trouble saying the machine got a jolt.

May have just been a sick power supply from the get go as I have always had shut down problems with this machine (even before satellite was hooked up). I was blaming them on Win 98 first edition. Now machine shuts down properly...

I do have the thread bookmarked. Just not able to contribute much... yet!
