Scrumbria:
Apparently the test equipment vendors need to be added to the growing list of anti-DRDRAM conspirators.

I wonder why Jack Robertson didn't talk to Schlumberger. They provide the vast majority of ATE equipment for Samsung, Toshiba and NEC. The people he "polled" for his article were the vendors who lost in the evaluations for RDRAM test equipment.

By the time Schlumberger annnounces new sales to the DRAM fence sitters, the price of RMBS will be much higher.

Scumbria,

Apparently the test equipment vendors need to be added to the growing list of anti-DRDRAM conspirators.

Why are so many people abandoning this obviously superior technology?

LOL! Just goes to show the bear vs. bull spin. I don't believe the article said that manufacturers are returning their RDRAM testers; just that new orders are for DDR testers. Since most manufacturers probably have their RDRAM testers (and may have even overbought capacity in some cases), whereas DDR is just beginning to ramp up, it makes sense to me that new orders probably shade toward the DDR side (especially on a % basis). No big surprise. DDR will be used in servers and graphics cards, it appears, for at least a little while. There may even be some DDR-based systems someday (granted it'll be low-volume <G>). They'll need some testers for this demand.

If they abandon RDRAM in mass for DDR I would be happy.
Bigger royalties.
