i think you did right there...why hold out for the last dollar? seldom works. i had the remarkable luck to dump a big position in SWC right at the top tick all time high, but that was due to my selling discipline, which in this case was "on the day palladium rises more than 50 bucks in a single session i'm selling" and it was pure coincidence that i managed to catch THE high.
if a stock rises into its earnings release it is more often than not wise to sell slightly ahead of it if one is sitting on a decent profit. the danger is that even good news could be sold...happens frequently.
