wrong..i believe the importance of the US economy to other economies around the globe is overstated. in Europe, a lot of regulatory and bureaucratic fat awaits liposuction. of course one could argue that politicians will do their utmost to not do the right thing, but the common currency may well force them to.

note, if there is a US recession, the European exporters would suffer a bit, but import prices, and input costs in general would decline sharply, giving the economy a supply side boost. momentum would then shift from an export led recovery to a domestic demand led recovery...not necessarily a bad thing.
