the researchers are indeed working on brain mechanisms, but
none of the honest ones are addressing the cause of love.


I bow to your superior knowledge, since I'm sure you wouldn't say this unless you personally knew what every honest scientist in the brain research field was addressing. Here, at least, appears to be a verifiable truth, even though X believes nothing is verifiably true.

I am pretty sure everybody has some degree of materialistic agenda. I did hear once that there was some yogi who can live on air alone but I didn't believe it. Along with needing to struggle with materialistic existence and events many of us also recognize an eternal existence that is not bound to temporal restrictions. A scientist that has an agenda to discount the existence of God through a study of physics would seem to be opposing this.
