FRIDAY, JULY 14, 2000 9:17:00 AM EST
CLEVELAND, Jul 14, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Keithley Instruments, Inc. KEI, a leader in the test and measurement industry, announced today that it has been added to the Russell 2000(R) Index of small capitalization stocks following the Frank Russell Company's annual adjustment of its U.S. stock indexes. Final membership in the Russell indices was announced July 10.

"Recognition on the Russell 2000 Index is further testament to Keithley's growth and the acceptance of its long-term strategy," said Joseph P. Keithley, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Keithley Instruments. "In addition to increasing Keithley's visibility on the market, our new status as a Russell 2000 company will generate new investment opportunities for Keithley stock."

Annual reconstitution of the Russell indexes captures the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization to create the Russell 3000(R) Index. The largest 1,000 companies in the ranking comprise the Russell 1000(R) Index, while the remaining 2,000 companies become the small cap Russell 2000 Index. This year, more than 600 companies joined the Russell 3000 Index.
