It's really got nothing to do with Sun here. My opinion of MS is entirely independent. --- They listed "Perl" as a the first programming language in the layer. That sent up a flag because my understanding is that Perl and ActiveState's Win32 port are different enough to where it's more than somewhat misleading. --- Again, that's just my understanding (re-enforced from what I'm reading). I'm not running some kinda misonformation agenda. I'm just pointing out that, to my knowledge, a typical Perl program (certainly a typical binary) written for Perl on the Unix platform (which most are) do not run on Win32 Perl. --- Therefore, I would not be surprized to learn that the same was true of Activestate's Python. --- It's just a truth in advertizing issue here. --- I'll ask the Perl folks I know for more information and let you know what I find out. Meanwhile, you can go to CPAN or perl.org, or o'reilly (main perl sites) and see for yourself what the differences and commonalities are. -JCJ
