Probably right, here's some irony from the WSJ editorial on the subject Perle's advice:

The second [salient point Pearle made to the Israelis] is that it would be prudent for Mr. Barak to avoid getting drawn into the politics of the American Presidential campaign.

The WSJ piece also points out that

two of Prime Minister Barak's aides -- Joseph Alpher, a special adviser, and Yoram Ben-Zeev, deputy director for North America in the foreign ministry -- contacted him [Pearle] and sought his advice.

AlGore the Junior, in deep doodoo, is besides himself:

A new Pew poll shows a majority of GOPers, 56%, said they were strong supporters of George W. Bush, while less than half of Dems, 47%, said they strongly supported Al Gore. Bush's indie backers "were more enthusiastic about him than Gore's were for their candidate" (Nando).

Chuck,
That looks like "sound" advice to me, regardless of who it came from. Clinton is trying to get him to kiss Palestinian a**, and that's a foolish tack to take.
