Darrell,

<< ETSI abandoned their IPR listing for 3g tech; transferred that responsibility directly to the ITU ... IDCC did not list with ETSI due to this change as voted by ITU meeting members. now nothing in the way of 3g IPR listed with ETSI carries any validity >>

ETSI transferred their IPR listing to 3GPP and it is "visible to all" (as ETSI stated in a recent presentation to 3GPP in Beijing). This is the link:

3gpp.org

The IPR (Declaration) Register is the sum of all IPR declarations made to each Operating Partner (OP) or Standards Development Organizations (SDO's) of 3GPP. The 3G Operating Partner's and of course the standards development bodies from China (CWTS), Europe (ETSI), Japan (ARIB & TTC), Korea (TTA), and North America (T1).

As Gus pointed out in post # 4455 here, "3GPP" (is) "where the issue of basic and implementation patents for hybrid TDMA/CDMA networks will be handled in the years to come".

Mark Gercenstein recently referred to IDCC's essential W-CDMA patents. I am wondering why none are listed in the 3GPP register. Perhaps you or one of the other regular contributors on this thread could comment further on this?

Thank you.
