Chip - We know SUNW is kicking ass. We know SUNW is kicking IBM's ass. --- This IBM "Server Challenge" is the upteenth sequential "we're going after Sun Microsystems and we really mean it this time!' campaign. --- You'll note that the latest big kickoff didn't phase ANYBODY. --- The better question is, if IBM doesn't put the EARNINGS numbers on the board in the server space where they have a currently superior product (S-80?) and in any case obviously impact Sun's growth in that space, what happens to IBM when Sun's NEW product line is released? -JCJ --- Edit: You'll note that (per Rudedog) CPQ has monster server revenue compared to Sun. That hasn't stopped SUNW from going up x10 in the time that CPQ has gone up around zero. "Revenue" doesn't cut it.

Dear Chic: I dont follow IBM that closely as I dont own their stock. I do notice when things are written about them as to how they may effect the computer industry and storage in general. It is my understanding that IBM is not expected to have a very good qtr. Servers are a small percentage of their business so possibly they will improve there but it not have much effect on IBM overall. I dont know for sure. But, from everything we know about SUNW there is every likelyhood SUNW will have another blowout qtr. I am hopeful they will announce the soon rollout of the SUNW SPARK III possibly August. JDN
