Re: EETimes Product of the Week - "Chip set enables parallel optical links in Tbit applications"

Hi Chris,

Been mighty quiet around these parts lately. Here's the latest from EETimes:
eetimes.com

<snip>
A chip set from Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) enables parallel optical links of up to 300 meters for rack-to-rack, chassis-to-chassis and board-to-board connectivity in bandwidth expansion applications for terabit network equipment....

the devices comply with IEEE-802.3 specifications......

The chip set can be used with AMCC's S3457 transceiver to provide a 10-Gbit/s, bidirectional very short-reach OC-192 link. It can also be used with other AMCC devices to craft optical backplane solutions.

<end snip>

Something for the 10GigE crowd it would seem.

Best, Ray
