<< the big price gains only came when buyout bids were put on the table. >>

Your statement perfectly illustrates the dilemma we face as exploration investors, and is why I disagree in part with Claude about a speculative cycle based on discovery. I haven't seen a speculative cycle in much of anything based on discoveries. BAY probably has come as close to one as any, but it has been pretty muted considering the stellar results. Primarily we are witnessing companies with some excellent deposits just price erode away, with progress totally ignored.

The big returns as you say have been the take outs (and for awhile technology/ e commerce scams) and those have been shockingly scarce. I not sure why, but the reason I've railed on about the negatives of explorers becoming producers is my suspicion that the good juniors are asking too much for half explored projects that they will never get the capital (DILUTION!) to finish. They are also refusing to do the transaction calculus based on $280 gold (the prayer syndrome). That's why I'm defending PGD, they read the handwriting on the wall. Rather than praying, they took the best deal under the cold, hard realities of what is appearing to be a rangebound POG.

About all a serious investor in the junior sector can do, is buy quality names and pray a buy out cycle materializes that will revitalize things. We are going to need reasonable buyers and SELLERS for that. Higher gold and silver prices should be considered a lucky bonus.

This ain't ARP,...if you want to see a similar situation to ARP, look at WSP.T,...Winspear diamonds. No major is involved here at BAY at present. If someone is looking at a buyout,...my guess is from a source no one else is thinking of,...Homestake,...think about it,...and tell me their evaluations people aren't sniffing around.

Just squished hamster thoughts.
