Nice post on CSCO, Frank. They never give up on the Cisco thread, do they? I can remember, 2 years ago, getting so frustrated with people over there.

I am consolidating as we go through this summer rally, or whatever the hell it is. I have "Russian Armyed" ELON from a major position to a minor one, and am about to dump it completely Monday.

Any ELON lovers out there who want to explain to me what an idiot I am?

Nice post Frank. Just a refresher since I posted these links in June when the articles appeared as to why Nortel is not a Rule Maker over at the Fool. Here they are again:

fool.com

fool.com

Once again, both articles are written by TMF Grape (Phil Weiss). The second article is the metric look at Nortel. Certainly not a 'bad' investment and the numbers smoke the heck out of Lucent's ugly numbers. However, Cisco's numbers are so much better it draws the conclusion for me that I have no need for Nortel (or Lucent) in my portfolio because there are plenty of investments we all follow with 'better' numbers.

P.S. Enjoy your sail on Sunday. I would love to have been there, but my son and I are holding two 'hot' tickets to the Giants afternoon game. It's hard to watch baseball in Austria, so we are getting our fill at Giants and A's games while we are here.

>>But the bulk of [NT’s] enterprise is directed at old economy markets<<

This may have been true in the past, but, with deference to your role in starting this thread and my pleasure in reading your messages over the past year or so, I don’t think it is true now. In response to customer demands and its own view of network evolution, NT has basically redefined its mission as building the next-generation Internet, and is directing its efforts toward doing that.
