Still looking into the past, you are avoiding the future. RDRAM is still a tiny percentage of the market and is still priced way, way above the 15% premium that might allow it to survive.

Funny, I've never been accused of living in the past. I think you missed the point of the post, which was that if RDRAM systems were not selling, they wouldn't be offered still. A case in point came out after my post when Dell cancelled their Internet PC after 7 months. It wasn't selling. Yet IBM (and others) continue to provide up to 100% of their systems configurations with RDRAM. Maybe it's not moving as quickly as we would like, but the prices are coming down faster than I expected and since you've been able to get RDRAM in systems under $1500 for a month or two now, I'm pleased with the progress.

I would define living in the past as expecting current technology (SDRAM and DDR) to survive much longer.

p.s. Any comments about Micron cancelling their DDR chipset?
