>> My current thinking (it changes daily), is to put 10% of my money into the stock at 55, another 10% at 50, and start buying LEAPs (2003 40s), at 45, 40, and 35. I'd be out of cash, margin, and courage if we get to 30.

That's a great plan, but I think you formulated it a month too late. Imo, the next time you get an opportunity to buy qcom in the 40s will be post split.

From my experience, trying to time an entry point into a great ltb&h stock was usually wasted energy. These days I just take a starter position and add on dips.

OK Jake, for the hell of it, I say we get our huge volume on an upside move after earnings and that we have seen the bottom at 51 1/2. Betcha won't get your sub $50 entry price. If I win, you buy me a beer.
If I lose, I go back to mowing lawns, and fast.

The best time to buy is when all the analysts are down on QCOM, which will likely continue to happen at least a couple of times a year.

In any regard, I bought call options on Q when the stock was $53, and don't plan to sell them in the near term. I just could not fathom the stock in the low 50s, notwithstanding ML saying that they'd buy if the shares hit $50. As in the past, I will likely wind up exercising the options, and holding for longterm.

I am very interested in hearing this week's conference call.
How many times will IJ say "exciting"?
