How 'bout this? S&P removes COMS from list and adds PALM. Would not be totally outrageous.

twillowy,

that would really supply some kick if PALM was added to the S&P. it's fun to even think about it. like you, i feel that there must be substantial pressure coming from the underwriters, and that the "Russell Midcap 2000 gives them extra ammunition".

thanks for providing those S&P guidelines

:)

If the S&P500 Committee can't even add my beloved JDSU, then I think the possibility of adding Palm, in the short-term, to the index are remote.

But if they did, it would be pure gas to the fire. I really can't see a decline upon the Palm distribution. Every mid-cap growth fund, large-cap growth fund will be adding Palm as a holding (well close to every fund!) (VBG).

I'm debating on whether to keep, sell, or add to comsv. But after 6-months I'm not even sure what they do! I know they are involved with bluetooth and net appliances. But who isn't amongst the high-tech companies?

Can anyone provide a brief summary of what non-cash assets coms still possess? What businesses are they in, and not just contemplating? I feel like an outsider regarding coms, and I have been reading about their actions, listening to their conference calls for over 6 months, and I still don't know what they actually do! tia

"I am sure that there is a pressure behind the door on S&P folks from the big guys who have underwritten the spin-off to do just that and, IMO, Russell Midcap 2000 gives them extra ammunition"

imo, you pretty much called it last saturday, twillowy.

just keep that crystal ball polished up...

we may need it some more
