The key issue here is whether there is any way of knowing whether SSB, or the accounts it manages or advises on, bought any SMH during the period immediately following its downgrading of the sector. I don't know whether it is possible to find out that kind of information, unless the SEC itself is investigating, and I doubt very much that the SEC will initiate any major investigations during the rest of the presidential election campaign.
