In the context of the situation there were various good reasons fro His tears. Some of which, in my opinion were: 1.The sadness in Mary and Martha 2.The sadness in the people all around 3.The fact that Mary and Martha could not fully understand the resurrection 4. Martha's emotional announcement: 27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. 5. For the feelings of disappointment Martha expressed in Jesus Himself: Lord if only you had been here my brother would not have died. 6.Also this time when Jesus comes to them...It is Martha who runs to meet Him, and Mary is so distraught she moves not: John 11:20 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. Whereas previously It was Mary who was Mary who could not leave Jesus's side: Luke 10:38-42 38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. 7.He also considered that He was now about to humble Himself to God in front of this mass of people and pray aloud in public for all to see the glory of God manifest in raising Lazarus. John 11:38-44 38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. 8.It was also proof that he was 100% man with feelings just like us!!!....and at the same moment being ...100% God... and raised the dead.!!! And To God be all the glory. Have a good evening Thomas Shalom...><> BTW..when do you go off to Cairo?
