depreciation- what will be their 2002 deprec for all this warehouse capacity and the new office in Seattle?? And all the equipment they've had to buy
for the warehouses and the new office?
amortization- ongoing amortization for all these failed .coms they've bought or taken stakes in...

So, after all that in 2001 and 2002, why does that guy at SSB think AMZN will have $767M in cash lying around in April of 2002 ??

You apparently are misunderstanding basic accounting. AMZN
has already /paid/ for the warehouses and office space.
They will lose no more cash on those, except in day to
day operating costs, and taxes. Depreciation is how the
government forces them to recognize the purchase- it
affects their earnings statement, but in actuality they
are not spending that money. It is virtual.

AMZN is /not/ going to run out of money.
