<I wonder, what fraction of investors who bought before the 1999 run-up are still holding.
Most of them, I think. And I wonder how many investors who bought at prices 2-3
times higher than today's price, are still holding. Fewer every day, I think. Someone must
have doubts, or else the stock would still be at 200.>

I am sure the ill-informed will always have doubts, not only in stocks but also life. Reminds of that the Stevie Wonder song.

Just what is your point? Do you even have a point other than FUD in order to help a short position on this stock? If you like the stock, buy it. If you think it will go down, short it... Otherwise, just stop regurgitating fears from your psyche.. Your posts have been a repetitive drone of doubt and fear. There are other boards for that sort of stuff..

The only thing I'm certain of, is that the sun will rise in the east.

How quickly they forget...

No company can maintain a triple-digit forward PE over the longterm (5 years). It has never happened, and it never will.

>>>The only thing I'm certain of, is that the sun will rise in the east. Except in June, when it just goes round and round in the sky, and December, when it just briefly makes a little red smudge on the southern horizon at noon, and then goes down.<<<

MY GOD, you live in Nome...this guy lives in Nome. Nice place. Kinda small. Got my ear pierced in a bar outside of of there somewhere. No wait, it was outside of Fairbanks. Ah hell, I can't remember...don't even know if it was the mosquitos or whatshername that scared me back to the lower 48. Whatever.

I bought last year at 160 and this year at 156,120,100,80,61 and still holding all the shares with exception of .I am not saying it was right as my last year purchase at its high would be worth approx. 60% of total shares I have today even though my number of shares have been multiplied by 5.I did not buy anything on margin and can make my own decision on the time frame of a sale.

Reading the threads at times of doubt has strengthened my resole and belief.BTW I read NOK and ERIC threads also,So I can compare and balance things.

2 things I learnt this year was to never rush buying and selling decisions. In RETROSPECT buying at 156 was not very sound but current prices are also absurdly low.

Time is an ally of great companies.

Well, I was one that sold last year. Sitting and watching a stock reward me with a lifetime of stellar growth, 50%/yr over a 40 year period (name 10 mutual fund that claims that), was a no brainer for me. Other choose a different path for different reasons, which is fine for them as its their money. Nothing goes up forever, there always periods of adjustment, consolidation and the such. I always and repeatedly was outspoken of my disdain for momentum investing and investors, some might remember those ramblings. Some might understand why now, but it was another factor in my selling the stock. When they leave, it's a crowded doorway and the results are a correction of the type expierenced. You just don't know when they leave or why, but they do. As Buffett says, I'd rather sell to soon that sell too late. Stock is still 520 from 30-60 range that I had bot it. Still a damn good rate of return and probably about where it should be at this stage of the game. It still an impressive return.

With that money, I bought other investment vehicles and enjoying a semiretirement. Some have been great and some haven't fare well as of yet, but the most of it is just collecting interest. QCOM looks attractive at these prices, so those that have patience, keep the faith. Those that don't have patiences, find some, as it will take awhile to undo the damage done by the mo-mo goofs.
