"But all this backbone investment, driven more by
stockmarket sentiment than by actual data demand, has
created a massive glut in fibre-optic capacity. "

An interesting article, but the authors probably never spoke with service providers who must sometimes wait up to nine months to a year for a T3 line, when it only took six months two years ago, and three months a year before then. When they speak about "capacity", what are they talking about? Spectrum added per every piece of glass laid? Or, the boxes and ports that are necessary to get the spectrum to where it's needed? Surely, they are not referring to the latter.
